Ghana’s economy: Akufo Addo to speak to the nation on Sunday October 30 – Oppong Nkrumah




 President Akufo-Addo will on Sunday October 30 2022, address the nation on the current economic situation, Information Minister Hon Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah has said.

Speaking in an interview on the Kumasi based OTEC 102.9 FM’s breakfast show, “Nyansapo” Hon Oppong Nkrumah said the address will center on measures taking by government to reverse the current economic downturn.

He disclosed that the address will follow almost immediately after a series meetings with major stakeholders in the country including, traders, forex bureau players, trade union congress, transport operators, employers, among others.

The Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi again noted that cabinet will meet to finalize those measures before the official address.

“Cabinet will begin a three-day retreat today and are expected to complete the meeting by Saturday; President Akuffo Addo after the retreat will then address the nation on Sunday”. He told the host, Captain Koda.

Public Criticisms

Nana Akufo-Addo’s government has come under fierce criticism over harsh economic conditions. Many feel the president has been a letdown over the economic hardships characterized by skyrocketing inflation.

Many have criticized the government over the abnormal rise in inflation and exchange rate calling on the president to savage the situation.

Meanwhile some financial and economic experts have predicted even more devastating economy if government fails to roll out pragmatic measures to check free fall of the local currency on international market.

President pledged to fix Economy

President Akuffo Addo however is optimistic of Ghana’s economy to rebound soonest despite the prevailing challenges..

The president has on several occasions and several platforms assured the public of restoring the economy to its upward path to help reduce the current hardship in the country.

He has consistently called on all stakeholders to come on board and help reverse the ailing economy to help improve the livin conditions of the ordinary Ghanaian.
